Duration / Position: |
I was
employed by Electro Design cc from
1 March 1994 until 30 November 1994 as a Design
Electronic Engineer. |
|
|
The Employer: |
Electro
Design cc was established in the early 1990’s by Ingo Lösch and operated from
a 2 bedroom granny flat on top of the double garage of Ingo’s residence in
Faerie Glen, Pretoria. During my short employment, the enterprise was in a
growth phase and has apparently relocated to more suitable premises when the number
of employees grew, after I have left. The latest
status of the enterprise is that it was wound up after Ingo decided to
relocate to Australia. |

|
Main Activities: |
I did
research, design, development and prototyping of custom electronic
sub-systems, mainly in the Radio- and Microwave Frequency ranges. I mainly
dealt with the following elements in various shapes and sizes:

|
Initiatives: |
When I joined
Electro Design cc, the existing computer hardware was based on Intel ‘286
with ‘287 co-processors, which executed the CAD applications quite slow (I
fell asleep during screen refreshes!). I have therefore successfully
convinced Ingo, the owner of Electro Design, to upgrade his computer hardware
to accommodate upcoming Microsoft Windows applications (and speed up the
screen refreshes when working with CAD!). I personally managed the upgrade
project and application transfer. I introduced
a graphic computer aided design tool for capturing schematic diagrams of
electronic circuits that Electro Design has designed and manufactured. |

|
Reason for leaving: |
I resigned
because I was offered a more appealing job opportunity with the City Council
of Pretoria. |
